Diagnosis and Treatment of Plantar Fasciitis

If you feel pain in your heels when you walk or run, you may be experiencing plantar fasciitis, which occurs when a band of tissue in your foot tears or becomes inflamed.

Come to Bowden Family Spine and Sport for a knowledgeable diagnosis and effective treatments. Call today to request a free consultation or fill out our handy online form.

Watch Out for the Signs of Plantar Fasciitis

The majority of our patients experience plantar fasciitis as a stabbing pain in one or both of their heels. Frequently, it's felt at the start of the day and then fades after a few steps. But other symptoms may also be experienced.

  • Pain across the bottom of the foot
  • Pain in the arch
  • Pain that worsens with standing or walking
  • Chronic pain that increases over time
  • Pain that follows being off of your feet, such as when you get out of bed, when you rise after a long sit, or try to stand and walk after a long car ride
  • Pain during or after jogging or running
  • Pain that comes and goes after a long period of standing or walking

Treating the Factors That Lead to Your Foot Pain

Plantar fasciitis is often linked to specific conditions.

  • Being overweight
  • Pregnancy
  • Jogging or running
  • Shoes that fit poorly
  • Shoes with poor support
  • Weak muscles
  • Prolonged standing
  • Tight calf muscles
  • Tight Achilles tendon
  • Abnormal foot structures

Once we determine that plantar fasciitis is a problem, we'll look at the causes and come up with the best treatment plan for your situation.

...I had an injury in my back that would only allow me to sleep one night out of the week. When I was going to another chiropractor after I started going to Dr. Bowden he got me to the place where I can go for a month or more before needing an adjustment. There just aren't enough nice words that I could say about Dr. Bowden. And I thank God for him.
